We at CareerSighted believe that in an ideal world, everyone loves their career because their career is well suited to their interests and talents. We are on a mission to make this vision a reality by creating 3 minute videos about every career you can think of and thousands more that you can’t. These videos are available for free at www.CareerSighted.com so that students (and anyone considering a career change) can discover a career that is well suited to their interests and talents.
The inspiration for CareerSighted started on an August day when the co-founders, Ryan and Jayne Elliott, went for a walk at Lake Balboa/Anthony C. Beilenson Park. On their way to the park, they drove by a charter high school that focuses on journalism and communications. This raised the question, is it really a good idea to go to a specialized high school? Does anyone really know what they want to do for the rest of their lives when they’re in high school? Over the course of that walk in the park (and many more walks that followed) Ryan and Jayne discussed career days and how everyone is limited in their career choice based on what careers they’re exposed to when they’re growing up. Having been out of school for years, they had seen friends regret their career choices and try to change course years after getting their degree. Wouldn’t it be great to prevent such mid-course regrets and changes? Perhaps if there were a way to research careers online. Not a job search but a resource to discover what careers exist and what is required in order to pursue those careers. It’s pre-job shadowing, and it would remove the limitations that we all experience. Thus the idea of CareerSighted came into focus over the next year until a company was officially born. Founded in 2012, we at CareerSighted are excited to help bring your career into focus.
